Biopolitics and active ageing

This research aims to analyze and identify processes and new policies—across multiple levels of governance—for the management of active ageing, in light of its connections with socio-health emergencies and, consequently, its socio-economic impact on the balance of the healthcare system. The study adopts an interdisciplinary (political and legal) approach and builds upon the biopolitical reflection on public governance processes within institutions and bodies responsible for care, well-being, and health.
The analysis develops around four main axes: the identification and monitoring of care pathways and active ageing trajectories; the promotion of environments conducive to healthy ageing and disease prevention; the strengthening of effectiveness, efficiency, cost-effectiveness, and quality in public and accredited private healthcare; and the promotion of sporting practices that contribute to healthier lifestyles. Within this framework, a central role is assigned to ICT and to their potential applications in innovating processes and services for elderly healthcare.
