Nanotechnology is revolutionizing the field of medicine, offering new opportunities for faster diagnoses and more effective treatments. Advances in biosensors and lab-on-chip technologies are making available miniaturized diagnostic devices capable of monitoring vital and biochemical parameters in real time, enabling earlier and more accurate diagnoses of complex diseases such as cancer and neurodegenerative disorders. Today's availability of new technologies also paves the way for liquid biopsy, which allows disease markers to be detected through a simple blood test (or another biological fluid, or in the future, through breath analysis), monitoring the presence of tumor markers without invasive procedures. This interdisciplinary approach enables personalized medicine, aiming to create tailor-made therapies for each patient, adapting them to their specific genetic and biological characteristics.

At the same time, nanotechnology is playing a crucial role in precision medicine, allowing for the more efficient development of new drugs through organ-on-chip technologies or by making increasingly sophisticated and targeted drug delivery systems available, capable of delivering active substances precisely to the affected areas, minimizing side effects. These developments are radically transforming how diagnostics and treatments are conceived, ushering in a new era for healthcare.
