Since 2005, the Salento Racing Team has provided its members, students enrolled at the University of Salento, with the opportunity to design and build a racing prototype. Since 2024, the team has been working on an electric-powered project that competed in the Formula SAE Varano 2026 event; the competition aims to evaluate the design quality, cost, and engineering efficiency of the racing cars developed.
