Measuring from tenths of seconds to decades: How did the microclimate of the Salento countryside change in the last 20 years?

The poster will show how micrometeorology operates for direct local measurements of the heat, water vapor and gases exchanges between the atmosphere and the hearth surface. Fast-reponse sensors capable of resolving the atmospheric turbulence, sampling at less than one tenth of second are necessary with advanced data processing. An ultrasonic anemometer will also be present for live explanations at the desk. The challenge of maintaining such measurement facilities in operation in Salento for more than two decades has been accepted and carried on by the ISAC-Lecce Micrometeorological Station since the early 2000. The results of 20 years continuous measurements show how the surface-atmosphere exchanges modified the rural microclimate in Salento along the last two decades.
