LEBiotec 2026

The Academic Council for the degree programs in Biotechnology and Medical Biotechnology and Nanobiotechnology is organizing the ninth edition of LEbiotec, which will take place in Lecce on September 25th and 28th.

LEbiotec is an annual event organized by the Academic Council in Biotechnology of the Department of Biological and Environmental Sciences and Technologies (DiSTeBA) at the University of Salento. Its main objective is to promote research and innovation in the field of biotechnology for the protection of human health and the environment.

As in previous years, LEbiotec is part of the European Biotech Week—coordinated in Italy by Assobiotec-Federchimica and scheduled from September 28th to October 5th, 2026—as well as the European Researchers' Night 2026 activities. This year, LEbiotec is also included among the initiatives of the Territorial Pact project of the Apulian University System.

Speakers from academia, research and industry will present the latest advances across various biotechnology sectors (white, red, green biotechnology, etc.). Key topics will include career prospects for biotechnologists, job opportunities, entrepreneurship, translating knowledge into expertise, and maximizing the value of one's educational background. The event will also serve as an opportunity to explore the potential of the Salento region in the biotechnology sector, providing a platform for updates and discussions on the latest scientific and technological developments, thereby helping consolidate Lecce as a center of excellence in this field.

We encourage everyone to recognize the great importance of highlighting the research conducted in the university's laboratories, particularly within DiSTeBA, in the field of biotechnology.
