Galileo Galilei and the Aristotelian tradition in Salento during the 16th century
Activities proposed
For
The proposal stems from the idea of showcasing the research carried out by CERTA (Centre for Research on the Aristotelian Tradition in the 15^(th) and 16^(th) Centuries) by transforming it into an accessible experience.
CERTA is proposing the creation of a stand dedicated to exploring and highlighting Galileo Galilei’s links with the Salento region. This would be achieved by displaying digital reproductions of manuscripts attesting to this connection and showcasing the existing bibliography on the subject.
The aim is to make historical materials, which would otherwise be difficult to consult, engaging and accessible to the public, thereby bringing them closer to the world of research.
Designed as an interactive space, the stand will allow visitors to virtually explore the pages of Galileo’s manuscripts and the title pages of other reference works, examining the texts, illustrations, and typefaces.
