The research group of the European ERC project HYNANOSTORE and the regional project CIRCO at CNR-Nanotec in Lecce will show how lithium battery production can become more sustainable and circular by using renewable and recycled raw materials, including biomass-derived materials, fibres recovered from recycling processes and fibres obtained from plant waste.
During the event, we will explore how a battery works, from its origins and evolution throughout history to the latest technologies used in today’s portable devices. Through simple and engaging experiments, adults and children will discover how a battery can even be built using materials commonly found at home.
Along the way, we will see how nanotechnology can give new value to waste and natural resources, transforming them into functional materials for energy storage. A journey through science, sustainability and circular economy to discover how nature, recycling and innovation can contribute to the batteries of the future.
