Body Frontiers: Where Anatomy Meets the Microbiome

This event offers an interactive journey to discover the anatomical barriers of the human body, exploring its structures down to the cellular junctions under a microscope. Through 3D models and microbiome maps, we will analyse the delicate balance between commensal flora and pathogens. Defence mechanisms such as mucociliary transport and mucosal-associated immunity (MALT) will be demonstrated. Finally, it will be illustrated how specific anatomical conformations can become gateways for infections.
