In this talk we will discuss what we mean when we say that bacteria become resistant to antibiotics, and we will highlight the NanoCarbaOne project led by the Institute of Chemical Research of Catalonia, which aims to develop a new technology to detect enzymes responsible for resistance to carbapenems.
